The practice of Humility - 7

Do not think of acquiring humility without these particular practices proper to it: acts of meekness, patience, obedience, mortification, self-hatred, detachment from your feelings and opinions, contrition for your sins, and many others.  These alone are the weapons capable of destroying in you the kingdom of self-love, that corrupted ground where all vices sprout, where your pride and presumption take root and thrive.
